Hello everyone! I haven’t been updating for the past few months as I have been really hectic at work given that I’ve resigned and had to finish transition all the while processing my papers for my work abroad.
So where am I now? What am I doing?
I’m currently in Malaysia, having accepted to work at a multinational company in their IT services. I’m back to doing technical and I feel like I have a lot to catch up as I haven’t been technical tasks for a long while due to me being promoted to team lead, ya know what I mean (all those admin stuff).
I’ve discussed this with my manager and I’m pretty sure he knew what he was hiring and what my skills are. I still know how to do maintenance in the servers, but I would need refreshing – maybe a few days. My main role though is to help with the SLAs and determining KPIs instead of doing really technical things. I think, I will only have very minimum interaction with fixing the services as we barely have knowledge about it, so mostly it will be more on service management (ITIL process) which I definitely know as I have been doing it for the past five years. Technical is easy, following the process might be a tad bit harder.
Anyway, so far I’m loving Malaysia. At first, I was shocked by how diverse this country is in terms of culture and race. We have Indians, Chinese, Malays, Filipinos, Middle Eastern etc. I haven’t seen such diversity in any of the places I’ve been to. I am also not having problems with the food though I noticed they mostly serve mixed rice or buttered rice, and I’m not really a fan. I still go for the plain one.
Other than that, all is well. Hopefully everything works out for me as I still need to be regularized in my company. I’m really being positive right now and I’m already claiming it from the One above. 🙂 Otherwise, I may need to pay a penalty for breaching my apartment contract. Hahaha!
