Beach Escape: Canyon Cove – Nasugbu, Batangas

I just turned 24 and I spent my day working, though it screams ‘loser’ I can’t help but be thankful that at 24, I have a job and the choice to spend it out or stay in.

Luckily, my job allows us to work remotely as long as there is a stable Internet connection and we are able to complete our deliverable. With that, my roomie with her friend and I had a joy ride to Nasugbu, Batangas.

Nasugbu is a 3-hour drive from Manila via the Tagaytay-Nasugbu highway. Tagaytay and Nasugbu are two good places to unwind and be away from the hustle and bustle of the city without driving too far. If only Bacolod has the same setup for quick get-aways, but the nearest beach with white-pristine sand and clear waters is a 6-hour drive in a difficult road. I think if I have a car here in Manila, I’d always be on the road during weekends like Baler or Nasugbu or Anilao.

We were on our way at around 8AM and stopped by the ‘most beautiful Starbucks in the Philippines’ as advertised by Abs-Cbn on their blog. It’s the Starbucks in Twin Lakes along the Tagaytay-Nasugbu highway. I wished they didn’t get our hopes up because we were sort of disappointed. Tagaytay’s Starbucks is still the most beautiful Starbucks in the Philippines!

Since I had to do a little work and had a hard time finding a strong signal for my hotspot, we decided to finish our cup of coffee and went directly to Canyon Cove in Nasugbu. My roomie wanted to just chill around in a hammock and wait for the sunset, but Canyon Cove is not the whole hammock/cabbana kind of resort. It’s a residential resort actually and it looked like a palace.

The color of the sand is a little brownish almost golden and the seashore is waveless. It was scorching hot and there were not a lot of shade to give us cover from the heat.

Canyon Cove has a day trip tour package which is 800php (inclusive of all water activities and usage of kayaks, 300php consumable for food/drinks). The day trip starts at 8AM to 5PM.

I’m eyeing Anawangin or Baler soon. I’ll be at Caramoan this May and I have no idea what to expect. I haven’t taken much research as I just want to see the beach. I’m not really into the whole church tour and stuff so yeah. This will be my last trip, then I’ll have my Seoul trip on November.

  1. Wow. This is Nasugbu now? Or is this a newly developed spot. Looks less populated.

    1. Hi Elmer! The photo was taken around 1PM and we all know Filipinos are not fond of sunbathing at those hours which was why it looked less populated. They were lounging at the pool area, btw Canyon cove has a really nice pool. 😉 I heard Calatagan beaches look better.

    1. Hi Rhoda, I don’t work at Canyon Cove unfortunately. Maybe you can check their site for job openings? 🙂
